Day 1 - Vientiane Arrival
Arrive in Vientiane. Meet your guide at the airport, transfer to your hotel for check in. Start city tour in the afternoon. Visit That Luang Stupa, Pratuxai, Ho Prakeo, Wat Sisaket. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 - Vientiane - Xieng Khouang - Plain of Jars
Today we embark on the 7 to 8 hour journey by car to Phonsavan. Along the way enjoy the beautiful scenery and see local village life. Xieng Khouang, the gateway to the Plain of Jars, is a town that has been totally rebuilt after it was destroyed during the secret war in Laos. Later in the afternoon, we arrive at Phonsavan, the capital of the Xieng Khoung province. Take a city tour and have the option of visiting MAG, a humanitarian organization clearing the remnants of conflict for the benefit of local communities worldwide (the Mines Advisory Group).

Day 3 - Thajok tribal village - Tham Piou
Drive to Muong Kham to the natural hot spring water 64 km. on the way stop at minority villages to see their everyday life at Thajok village and visit Tham Piou cave. Return to Phonsavanh in the afternoon.
Stay at hotel in Xieng Khouang.

Day 4 - Xieng Khouang - Luang Prabang
Visit the local market of Phonsavanh and then you will take the car to Luang Prabang, long drive with change to take the experience with the local life on the way. you will break for the lunch in the local restaurant and keep driving to Luang Prabang . Upon arrival at Luangprabang transfer to hotel for check in. Afternoon, visit main highlights of Luangprabang: Phousy Mountain and discover the Night market.

Day 5 - Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Caves - Ban Xang Hai - Ban Phanom
Transfer to the local pier of Luangprabang to embark on a traditional boat trip upstream on the Mekong River to visit Pak Ou caves. En route, stop over to visit Ban Xang Hai where distillation sticky rice wine can be seen. Visit the sacred Buddha cave where the thousand Buddha images can be seen and return to Luangprabang to continue visiting Ban Phanom, nearby Henri Mouhot’s tomb, the weaving village of Lao Lu textiles. Overnight at hotel in town.

Day 6 - Luang Prabang City Tour – Vientiane
Morning, visit main highlights of Luangprabang: Vat Visoune, Vat Aham, Phousi hill for a view overlooking Luangprabang and Vat Mai Souvannaphoumaram, Vat Xieng Thong - the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang and National Museum known as former Royal King’s Palace.
Visit Ban Xang Khong, a weaving and handmade mulberry paper village. Free until transfer to domestic airport to fly to to Vientiane. Pick up and transfer to hotel. In at the afternoon go to the Morning Market with its Lao handicraft products, silk, gold, antique silver. See the sunset from beside the Mekong River.

Tour Arrangements (with English speaking Guide)
In addition to the visit of Site 1, 2 or 3 of the Plain of Jars, the following excursions can be arranged:
1. Visit Plain of Jars Site 3 and take a nice walk to Site 2. Visit the old Capital Muang Khoune, which was completely destroyed during the Vietnamese War. Continue to Site 1, to enjoy sunset.
2. Visit the local morning market. Buy food and fruits for picnic. Continue to see the crater area, which was heavily bombed during the war. Visit a village where war remnants (bombs and shells) are recycled as columns and pillars of houses and troughs to grow vegetables. Have picnic at a nice waterfall, where you can also swim.
3. Visit the quarry site where the material of the jars came from and visit Laos bunkers during the war.
4. Visit Tham Piu, where 400 villagers were killed by a rocket. Continue to see a weaving village and relax in the hot springs.
5. Trip by car to Sam Nuea and Viangxai (Caves of the Pathet Lao Government during the Vietnamese War). on the way, visit the Stone Garden (Suan Hin).
6. Muang Sui, Wat Ban Phong and Buddha Cave (Nong Thang).
7. Several Hiking Trails and Waterfalls in the surrounding of Phone Savanh.
8. Trip by car on the "Northern Route" to Luang Prabang in 3 days. Stay Overnight in Muang Hiam (Viang Thong) and Nong Khio.
9. In the rainy season Excursion to the jungle forest and stay overnight to observe and collect insects.

ITINERARY
Day 1 – 12th Feb 2013: Vientiane Arrival.
Welcome to Laos’s capital, Vientiane retains an old-world charm that is becoming increasingly rare.
Our guide and driver will come to pick up you to the hotel for check in.

Day2 – 14th Feb 2013: Vientiane City tour.
After a breakfast, we start visiting the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket,
the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues
and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image.
On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa,
we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument,
which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.

Day 3 – 15th Feb 2013: Vientiane – Vang Vieng.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then head north to the sleepy riverside hamlet of Vang Vieng,
a small town next to the Nam Song River that is surrounded by jagged limestone karsts.
Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, take a brief orientation tour of the city
before you check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure to explore the town.

Day 4 – 16th Feb 2013: Vang Vieng – Phonsavan.
Today we embark on the 7 to 8 hour journey by car to Phonsavan.

Day 5 – 17th Feb 2013: Phonsavan – Plain of Jars.
After breakfast, we will take a short trek to explore the mysterious Plain of Jars and the surrounding area.
The jars are thought to be 2000 years old, although there is little proof to date them very accurately.
Archaeologist still struggle to confirm the specific purpose of the jars, were they used for funerary urns
or to store rice wine remains a mystery until now. Observe local village life; visit a small monastery in Ban Xiengdi.
Pass areas that were important battlefields during the American war.
We continue a half day trip to Muang Khoun, one place in the old provincial capital
that was not been destroyed by the American bombings during the secret war.

Day 6 – 18th Feb 2013: Phonsavan – Luang Prabang
Following breakfast, drive to Luang Prabang (approx 6 or 7 hours) with a stopover for lunch at Sala Phoukhou again.
In the afternoon, we keep on going along the road 13 which has beautiful landscapes.

Day 7 – 19th Feb 2013: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Cave – Khuang Si Waterfall.
This morning you may want to wake up early and participate in the daily early morning ritual
of saffron-clad monks with their black Alms-giving bowls being given offerings from the local people,
including the ubiquitous sticky rice. After breakfast, we enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene
and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground,
which represent the classical architecture of Luang Prabang temple. We then board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River,
which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes.
Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the distillation of local rice wine.
On return, we take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, well known for its hand- made of Jute Sar paper.
Breakfast, you will visit the morning Phosi Market where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin,
local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings.
Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit the Ban Ouay, Hmong Hill tribe, Ban Ou, Lowland Lao
and Ban Thapene of Khmu village. Continue driving to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall
where you can splash around in the pools or walk along the forest paths, return to Luang Prabang and rest of the time at leisure

Day 8 – 20th Feb 2013: Luang Prabang City Tour – Departure.
Following breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the former king’s palace, which is now a museum.
The many items nicely displayed include rare furniture, traditional costumes and arts, jewelry, ornaments
as well as working tools and utensils of the early part of the 20th century.
Then we embark on a tour of this enthralling town to visit Wats Xieng Thong, the Golden City monastery,
which dates back to the 16th century and is considered to be the finest in Laos.
Furthermore, we visit the fine temples of Wats Mai, Vixoun, and the national Stupa of That Luang.
Later that day, we adjourn to the Phousi Holy Hill to enjoy the marvelous panoramic views of the town at sunset.
You will be transferred to the airport for your home.
