6-3 시인들의 축제가 열리는 도시 스트루가

 

Struga, also known as a city of poetry, is a town in Macedonia,

situated on the banks of the lake and river Black Drin which divides the city in two parts.

It is a wonderful place to relax enjoy the sight of the lake, the river, greenery and birds.

In the 19th century Struga played important part in the national revival

as it was home town of Konstantin and Dimitar Miladinovi, brothers who collected

and published a collection of folk songs (named "Folk songs from Macedonia") in 1862.

Konstantin Miladinov wrote Sorrow for the south (also translated as 'Longing for the South') during his studies in Moscow.

Today, in his honour, the biggest poetry festivals in the world is held in Struga every year.

The event is the primary landmark of the city as a tourist center and was attended by at least 200 secular poets.

The poetry festival among other things, awarded highest award for overall poetic activity, award "Golden Wreath"

and award "Brothers Miladinovci” for best poetry book in Macedonian language. 

The most important cultural monuments in Struga: St. George Church, whose frescoes date from the 13th to the 19th century.

In the fishing village of Kalista are St. Mary's Church and the cave church of St. Athanasius.

Longing for the South (T’ga za Jug)

If I had an eagle’s wings

To See Stambol, to See Kukuš;

Blizzards and harsh winds abound,

Fogs all around, the earth is ice,

And in the breast are cold, dark thoughts.

No, I cannot stay here, no;

I cannot upon these frosts.

Give me wings and I will don them;

I will fly to our own shores,

Go once more to our own places,

Go to Ohrid and to Struga.

There the sunrise warms the soul,

The sun gets bright in mountain woods:

Yonder gifts in great profusion

Richly spread by nature’s power.

See the clear lake stretching white-

Or bluely darkened by the wind,

Look you at the plains or mountains:

Beauty’s everywhere divine.

To pipe there to my heart’s content!

북마케도니아 스트루가에 위치한 오흐리드 호에서 발원하여

쿠커스에서 백드린 강과 함께 드린 강에 합류한 다음에 아드리아 해 방향으로 흘러간다.

마케도니아 스트루가 시 축제(Struga Poetry Evenings, SPE)​​

마케도니아 스트루가 시 축제(Struga Poetry Evenings, SPE)​​는 1961년부터 시작된 국제행사로,

매년 마케도니아 스트루가에서 개최한다.

2003년부터는 유네스코와 세계 시 문화의 교류발전을 위해 협력관계를 이어오고 있으며,

유네스코 세계 시의 날에 수상자를 발표하고, 8월에 열리는 스투루가 시 축제(SPE, Struga Poetry Evenings)에서

시상한다. ​

역대 축제기간 동안 전 세계 95개국 4,000여 명의 시인, 번역가, 수필가, 문학 비평가들이 참여​했다.

 
또, 스트루가 시 축제에는 밀라디노프 형제 상(Miladinov Brothers Award)​,

스트루가 브릿지 상(The Bridges of Struga)​ 그리고 황금화관상(The Golden Wreath)​이 있는데

이 중 황금화관상(The Golden Wreath) SPE가 국제적 차원의 시 행사로 전환된 1966년에 제정하였으며

SPE에서 수여하는 상 가운데 가장 권위 있는 것으로, 세계적으로 유명한 시인들의 작품을 선정해 수여하고 있다. ​​

그 명성에 걸맞게 역대 수상자로 파블로 네루다(‘71년), 에우제니오 몬탈레(’75년), 조지프 브로드스키(‘87년),

시머스 히니(’95년) 등, 노벨문학상 수상자도 포함되어 있다.
  그리고 제53회 스트루가 시 축제에서 2014년 황금화관상 수상자로 ​ 우리나라의 고은 시인이 선정되었다
